I believe
that like Jesus, I am "a beloved child of the Father." He loves me
totally and unconditionally and desires to be totally united with me in
love.
|
2 |
I believe
that I am a "uniquely gifted child of the Father." Never has there
been, and never will there be anyone created exactly like me.
|
3. |
I believe that I am a creature totally dependent on the Father. My meaning and happiness is to seek and do God's will toward his greater glory which He desires to reveal at every moment.
|
4. |
I believe that I am a sinner. I can freely
choose to refuse God's love and contribute to the structures that
promote evil in the world. I can choose to live the "Lie" that I can live apart from God.
|
5. |
I believe in the compassion of Jesus who is always
ready to heal me and forgive me. If I will allow him, he can break the cycle of evil in my life.
|
6. |
I believe that Jesus suffered and died to redeem the
world. He calls me to continue his redemptive work and to be in solidarity with those who suffer.
|
7. |
I believe that Jesus give meaning to my suffering.
He makes them a sharing in his passion, a redemptive sacrifice for others and my sure path to glory.
|
8. |
I believe that Jesus risen invites me to share in his
victory, power, and joy. With other members of His Body, the church, He calls me to continue His mission of consoling, blessing and transforming the world, to create and nurture the structures of His grace in the
world.
|
9. |
I believe that God has a special purpose for my life
which he desires to reveal to me. God will send the people, the resources and
opportunities I need to make my contribution to the transformation of the world.
|
10. |
I believe that the world is sacred - God created it,
Jesus redeemed it, the Holy Spirit dwells in it. At every moment,
in every place and situation, in every person, God's love and power are
present, purposefully moving in the world. |

Prayerful thoughts from St
Ignatius of Loyola
The more
completely we focus our attention on our Creator and
Lord, the less chance there is of our being distracted
by creatures [Ep.
7:411].
• • •
You are much deceived in thinking that the cause of your
unrest and little progress in following the way of the Lord comes from the
place where you live, or your superiors, or your brethren. This unrest
comes from within you, that is, it comes from your own lack of humility,
obedience, and prayer, and finally from a want of mortification and fervor
in advancing in the way of perfection. You could have a change in
residence, of superiors, and of brethren, but if the interior man is not
changed these other changes will do you no good. Everywhere will be the
same for you, unless you become humble, obedient, devout, and you mortify
your self-love. This is the change you should seek and no other [Ep.
8:328-329].
