 Tracking the Spirit Within The Community 
 

Meeting 7:   My Experience of Christian Community
 

v  Opening prayer:  Music, Scripture (Matthew 18:20), poetry, environment.   (4-5 minutes)

 v  Check-in:  How am I feeling as I begin this meeting?  (10 minutes total) 

v  Theme (read aloud):  The experience of community is a universal desire. What lifts us up and brings us down most often comes from our relationships. Family, neighborhoods, co-workers, soldiers in combat, gangs – the sense of community is found wherever there are people who bond together. What is unique to Christian community is the person of Jesus. What is unique about Christian community is living out his values and choices. The community is truly Christian when the poorest, the outcaste, the unfit are welcomed as graciously and lovingly as the rest.  

v  Reflection (facilitator read):  When have I experienced this kind of community? What was special about it? Have I experienced this often?     Short silence (2-3 min) 

v  Sharing  (facilitator read):  What struck me in this reflection?    + + +   After the sharings, members may add anything else they wish, sort of a second round sharing, or ask for feedback from the group.  Close with a brief prayer. 

v  Break (15 minutes, optional) 

v  Open conversation & questions about matters of interest and concern. 

v  Preview next topic to pray over in preparation for the next meeting. 

v  Business:  Place for next meeting, facilitator, prayer leader, other issues. 

v  Review of meeting:   How was I moved during this meeting? Where did I feel positive energy? Where discomfort? 

v  Closing prayer  

v  Social
