Tracking The Spirit

PART ONE
 Tracking the Spirit Within Me

Meeting 4:      What is prayer for me?

v  Opening prayer:  Music, Scripture (Luke 7:36-50), poetry, environment, anything that contributes to the spirit of the meeting.   (4-5 minutes)

v  Check-in:  How am I feeling as I begin this meeting?  (10 minutes total)

v  Theme (read aloud):  Prayer is having a relationship with God, like with a friend. Prayer does not earn God’s love. There is no appropriate prayer. Judging prayer to be good or bad is self-absorption, not prayer. Prayer is not what we do, it is how we are. It is a quality of presence, a trusting openness to God and others. Prayer is gift.

v  Reflection (facilitator read):  What does prayer mean to me? Do I pray to Jesus’ Father? To Jesus? To the Spirit? When do I experience prayer more easily? Is my prayer different now than when I was younger? What would I like my prayer experience to be?   Short silence (2-3 min)

v  Sharing  (facilitator introduce):  What struck me in this reflection?  + + +  After the sharings are finished, members may add anything else they wish, or ask for feedback from the group.  Remember, there is no comment on what is shared.   Brief prayer

v  Break (15 minutes, optional)

v  Open conversation & questions about matters of interest and concern.

v  Preview next topic to pray over in preparation for the next meeting.

v  Business:  Place for next meeting, facilitator, prayer leader, other issues.

v  Review of meeting:  Each shares briefly “How was I moved during this meeting? Where did I feel positive energy? Where did I feel discomfort?”

v  Closing prayer

v  Social
