According to the article "Money" in the Oxford Companion of the Bible,
one dinarius is a day wage of an unskill labor. A half-shekel was roughly 2
dinarii, or 2 days wage. It is difficult to convert this to the dollar,
especially in terms of purchasing power.
How much does an unskill labor make in 2 days? $100?
