We might skip through the first four verses, but in a way they summarize what a Gospel is. A Gospel started with
- personal experience of God,
- which is reported, into an oral tradition
- formulated with re-organization, remembrance, celebration
- written down in the process
- officially approved by the community
- transmitted to various places, cultures, times.
At any link of the transmission, the revalidation of the experience of God and part of the process needs to happen anew, which reveals a living God. If we only take the book and believe in the text, then we have a dead book. That's why evangelization is part of the process, too.
