Location:
Los Angeles and Orange County, California. Tây Nam Region
Coordinator:
Peter Khoa Nguyen
Our History:
Roots was formed on August 19, 2011 from a deep desire of several
young adults to continue the formation they began as members of Hạt
Cải. When a seed is planted, it grows roots to gain nutrients from
the ground. As the seed turns into a plant, others can see it grow
on the surface. At the same time, its roots also continue to grow,
giving the plant life through its deepening connection with the
earth. Our group has chosen this name because it reflects our own
personal journey and desire to continually grow in relationship with
God.
Inspiration:
"Blessed are those who trust in the LORD; the LORD will be their
trust. They are like a tree planted beside the waters that stretches
out its roots to the stream: It does not fear heat when it comes,
its leaves stay green; In the year of drought it shows no distress,
but still produces fruit." (Jeremiah 17:7-8)
Activities:
One of our goals is to build a lasting relationship with God through
daily prayer. We decide on prayer points for the weeks ahead and
then spend 15 minutes a day using different Ignatian Prayer Styles.
We then share about our prayer experience and spiritual life in our
group meetings twice a month. We also participate in social events
and retreats with other Dong Hanh groups. It is in this way that we
continue to deepen our connection with God and our community.
Prayer for Roots:
Please pray that God grants us his guidance to choose the path he
intends for us each step of the way. Several of us are in dynamic
stages of our life where there are many different paths we may
choose. It is only in hearing God’s call that we can choose the path
which bring the most life to ourselves, our community, and the world
around us. |
