With his Apostolic Constitution BIS SECULARI, Pope Pius XII initiated the renewal process of the Marian Congregations. In 1953 he approved the World Federation of the Sodalities of our Lady.

The first World Assembly took place in Rome in 1954.

The 2nd World Assembly in Newark in 1959 took a first step towards the formulation of the General Principles. That same year the Secretariat in Rome sent out its first letter to all federations. It was the beginning of a world-wide consultation and exchange of experiences that led to our first General Principles.

At the 3rd World Assembly in Bombay in 1964 the General Principles were practically ready but it was judged wise to present them for approval after the conclusion of Vatican II.

The 4th World Assembly in Rome in 1967 brought forth a new name Christian Life Communities, and the new General Principles.

The 5th Assembly in Santo Domingo in 1970 brought a crisis and a big challenge for the future of our Community. The following Assemblies tried to respond to this challenge.
