As I look back
at the weekend gathering, I feel a stillness within. I am reminded
of the passage, "Lord it is good that we are here." – Matthew 17:4.
Unlike previous gatherings or retreats, I don’t seem to feel
overcome with emotion. Not that I was looking for that type of
experience, it is just different from past events. There seems to be
something deeper actually – similar to the ocean, where the water
becomes more still the deeper one swims. Instead there is a sense of
understanding – a view, of sorts – into how God has, and continues
to, marvelously unravel a small part of His plan for Dong Hanh and
Youth and Young Adults (YaYA).
One part did
amaze me though, and that was the sense of mutual understanding of
the core values we are trying to bring forth with the new YaYA and
Formation teams. On the YaYA side, it seems everyone very quickly
and easily grasped the vision, mission, and objectives. What a
validation of community!
Even through
our discernment in selecting a Regional Coordinator, the process
seemed very much in peace throughout. I am very excited that we
elected Martin, and I am sure God will make very good use of his
infectious energy and spirit.
As for me, I am
here to answer the call in whatever way He leads me. On this
journey, I wouldn’t have it any other way! I know we don’t have all
the answers. I know there will be difficult times. We are united
with God though, and "with God, all things are possible." – Matthew
19:26. Echoing words from the YaYA National Gathering earlier this
year: The time has come. You know. Let’s go.
Finally, I hope
that we can get well out of God’s way,
so that He can
use us to bring others closer to Him. To inspire those coming
afterwards. To remind that it’s never too late to dream. To live to
our fullest potential – and maybe then some.
