Dear Quang,
How are you these
days? Here we just past a typhoon, which has left (at least) 71 dead.
In our house, we
suffered only
minor damages, such as fallen trees, broken windows, and so on, thank
God.
I write to you,
because I think that this report is overdue. Only now we realize that
the projects are totally finished. I mean the use of the money Vietnam
Service has received from the "Dominici Fund". On October 30, 2003, we
received 5,480 dollars, which we sent to Sister Anne Tam, of Kontum,
to build a house for Montagnard students. The house was finished long
ago, but we wanted to wait and see how it was functioning; now we have
confirmation that all is going well. I send to you the account that
Sister Tam wrote, with some pictures, so that you and the whole group
may thank the Lord for the service done to those poor Bahnars. Vietnam
Service added some money of our funds to fill up the needs.
The second case
is the house built in Quang Tri province, in the parish of Phuoc Tuyen.
We received two remittances: one of 4,400 dollars (on 17 September
2004) and 380 dollars (24 March 2004). We sent the money to Fr. Nguyen
Duc Hoa, to build a house for handicapped people in that poor
province. He finished the job and sent a report with pictures, which I
am sending to you.
Vietnam Service
is very thankful to the Dominici Fund for this help, because a lot of
people can now benefit of the generosity of individual donors in the
USA. Usually, Vietnam Service tries to reach the most needy, in areas
of the ethnic minorities or in parishes that are especially deprived.
Please extend my
greetings to the whole group and assure them of my prayers and of
those they help.
In the Lord,
Felipe Gomez SJ
