Brothers and sisters in Christ,
We, the young ÑH
groups from Montreal, Canada, with the total support of Father Do Ba
Long wish to present a project that we would like to build with all of
the youth in DH. This project will start on the first day of Advent.
As you may
know, Advent Season is approaching. Advent is the preparation time for
Christmas but also the active hope of the return of the Christ in
glory. Hoping for His return, that is what all of us is waiting!
However, before His return will happen, other people are also waiting
for something else: Young people in Vietnam are living in misery and
are waiting for us more fortunate to help them overcome their misery!
That’s why we
invite all of you to participate in the project “100000 pennies to set
free a misery”. The project will start on the first day of Advent and
will continue until Easter day. Each participating group will fill a
bottle of Coke with pennies.
A penny is
nothing for us. A penny can hardly buy anything but rather only weigh
down our wallet. What will happen if we keep that penny for some young
people who live in misery? I guaranty that we would get an interesting
amount if we put it all together! Far more, our brothers and sisters
in need will see it as an exceptional treasure!
For that
matter, we would like that each DH Youth group to buy a bottle of COKE
at 99 cents with a dollar. You will then put the remaining penny in
the bottle (after you drink all of it!). This will be our way to start
the project. Our goal? Raise 100,000 pennies for Easter.
We would like
that each time you find a penny, you have a thought for the young
people who are living in misery and are waiting for someone to help
them overcome their daily misery. That’s why we only accept PENNIES in
Coke bottle. The whole meaning of this project is to focus on those
little tiny pennies! We wont accept pieces of 5, 10, 25 cents, nor
loonies, nor toonies, not even a 5, 10, 50, 100, 1000 dollar bill!
At each of
your meeting, bring all the pennies you found and put them in your
group COKE bottle. A bottle could contain around $100. But, again,
don’t put anything but pennies in that bottle or you will miss the
real meaning of this project.
Finally, on
Easter, when your group will meet, take the bottle or all the bottles
you have filled and count all the pennies. Send a check with the
amount you raised to Vitor Bao Long Tran. With the amount received
Father Do Ba Long, S.S.S. will then send to help young orphans and
disabled children.
What you have
to do to participate to the project
- Send us your
group email. We will register your group to the discussion board that
we will set for the project. You will thus know all the latest news of
the project.
- Buy a bottle
for your group and fill it with pennies while keeping your thought for
our brothers and sisters who are unfortunate
Periodically,
we would update you by Internet (through our Website or by e-group):
there will be activities and/or reflections that will help nourish the
project during its lifetime.
So, find all
pennies that are hidden at home, in the car, etc. Know that each time
you are buying something; you could get up to 4 pennies! Don’t forget,
for our sisters and brothers who live in misery, a penny could mean an
end to their misery!
This project
is not only for us, DH-Youth! Invite all your friends to participate
in this project: colleagues at works, friends from school, your
family, etc …
We ask you to
pray for this project and thank in advance to all of you who will
participate.
