To My Dearest
Friends,
We are preparing
for the first Dong Hanh National Gathering, and the theme is “Dong
Hanh Family in Christ.” The purpose of the gathering is for us to
come together as a family to share our beliefs and experiences in
Christ and to strengthen our relationships.
A quick run-down
of the agenda - we will pray to strengthen our relationship with God,
with our family members, and within ourselves. To start our day, cha
Thành will lead us in a Morning Prayer. Afterwards, cha will give an
introduction on CLC Charisma. There will also be a daily Mass in
which we have the privilege to participate. I remember the Kansas
Gathering when our youth had a moving experience as they participated
in the Eucharist. Let’s prepare to open our hearts so the Holy Spirit
can enter. Towards the end of each day, there will be Reflection Time
to give thanks to the day’s blessings.
One of our
focuses is to determine God’s mission for us in serving the youth
ministries and our communities. We will develop strategies to
accomplish these goals, and the scheduled activities will help us
develop the necessary skills to accomplish them. There will also be
games, discussions, and an “idea” forum, so please come prepared to
share your experiences. Together, we will determine our mission
statement for the youth ministries, and this is most fruitful if every
participant brings questions, ideas, and suggestions.
We will also
focus on enhancing our abilities to lead with faithfulness,
compassion, love, and encouragement. Leadership can be developed, and
we want all of you to recognize what is already within you to make you
an effective leader. This does not mean you have to be super-smart,
popular, or loud to lead. In fact, part of leadership is to serve
those you are leading. At the Gathering, through God’s help, we will
help each other discover our potential in carrying out His mission.
Sounds like the
Gathering is all work and no play, huh? Well, even “potential”
leaders need to have fun too. Thus, we made time to mingle, to laugh,
and to socialize. You will have ample opportunities to meet new
people and to learn more about those you already know. And don’t
forget about “Dong Hanh by Night.” So bring your ideas, concerns, and
suggestions to the Gathering, but don’t forget your talents at home,
okay? Last but not least, good food will be provided everyday.
Entertainment and good food - what more can one ask for!
I am so ready to
pack now. How about you?!?
I look forward to
seeing you all there!!!
In God’s Love,
Tran Thu Huong
P.S. If you are
flying into Baltimore, Dulles, or National airports, the LoveBoat
group will be your host. Please get in touch with the LoveBoat at:
