The Lost Coin

coin
No one could have known but the Master that day
That like a lost coin I had straggled away
From the hand that had held me. And all unaware
Of the greatest love that sought me, I fell in despair.

The Master searched for all through the dark of the night.
And shined in each corner the bright gospel light,
Till He found me still covered in squalor and shame.
After that, things would never again be the same.

He stooped to the depth of my sins and my loss -
That distance He bridged by His death on the cross.
Now, ransomed and shining, this life saved from sin
Has an only ambition - to be spent for Him.
